On July 30, 2010, Dwight made a surprise visit to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlanta to recognize a select group of Big and Little matches for their participation and support of the organization. Dwight shared with the Little Brothers and Little Sisters in attendance the importance of education, goal setting and having a good role model, like their Big. Howard, who had strong mentors in his life including his parents and basketball coaches, also recognized the Big Brothers and Big Sisters for their volunteer work.
As an avid supporter of philanthropic causes in both Atlanta and Orlando, Dwight has partnered with BBBS to help raise awareness for the need of additional male volunteers to serve as Big Brothers in the Metro Atlanta community. Currently, more than 1,000 boys in the area are waiting to be matched with an adult mentor volunteer.
